Turkeytail at Furnace, Llanelli

Following on from Ian Morgan's visit to Furnace Ponds recently I visited the site today specifically to look at some hybrid bluebells which in the past were infected with a rust fungus. However, the bluebells have been either dug up or sprayed so I went for a walk up the track to the pond instead. By the side of the track was a fallen bough which was covered in Coriolus versicolor (Turkeytail) This wood rotting fungus forms large overlapping, tiered groups of fruit bodies which have a multicoloured concentric zonal patterning on the upper surface.
