Troserch Woods

The rain we had a couple of nights ago brought out a number of Stinkhorn fungi ( Phallus impudicus), in Troserch Woods yesterday. This one seems to have fruited so quickly that it had fallen out of the ground. Also there were a fair number of fresh Blushing Amanita (Amanita rubescens) dotted around as well.

The other fungus, growing through the gravel of a woodland path I take to be Weeping Widow (Lacrymaria lacrymabunda), with dark brown, very warty spores. Although being a bit dried out it would seem her weeping days have passed.

  1. I seem to remember reading somewhere that fb takes less than six hours to reach full size once it starts to come out of the "egg". You could almost watch it grow!
