4th Oct 2017 at NBGW

Jan Crowden found this under the Hornbeam in the Carpark , so I had to see it for myself today - Black Helvella , Helvella lacunosa .

Good for Jan = Elfin Saddle. I have not yet seen any this year at my usual places.

Lacunosa translates as 'full of hollows'.
