This strip of vivid orange fungus on a fallen branch was so eye-catching I had to stop the car and photograph it. It was just SW of Gwernogle, so a central Carmarthenshire record. It doesn't seem to match anything in Phillips, unless it is bright
Stereum hirsutum. What do people think?
Thanks Sam ---- I think this is Stereum hirsutum in active growh, hence the vivid colour. Fungi can be confusing and, like us, change with age. Good hunting for 2018.
